    Returning to action after taking a week off for final exams, Jacksonville University kicks off the winter break by traveling to Orangeburg, S.C., where the Dolphins will play at South Carolina State for just the fourth time in program history. The game tips at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the SHM Arena.

    After going 2-1 in the Wright State Thanksgiving Tournament, 3-1 in the last four games, and averaging over 18 points a game apiece, Jacksonville University’s Devin Harris and Jace Hogan have been honored with the ASUN Conference’s Player and Newcomer of the Week awards, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday.
  • Dolphins Earn Character-Defining Win in 3OT Nail-Biter

    Reaching three overtimes for the first time since 2013, Jacksonville University won a nail-biter over former ASUN Conference foe Gardner-Webb University 106-99 Sunday in Dolphin basketball’s final game of the Wright State Thanksgiving Tournament. The win improves JU’s record to 3-4 on the year, and drops Gardner-Webb to 2-6. The Dolphins now lead Artis Gilmore’s other former school 9-6 in the all-time series.

    Making his first appearance in a Jacksonville University uniform, Jace Hogan scored 24 points and snagged 11 boards in 37 minutes Friday night. The junior transfer from the United States Naval Academy also had two assists, two blocks, and a steal. But it wasn’t enough as the Dolphins fell to NC A&T 90-82 in Swisher Gym.

    Looking to repeat a dominant defensive performance akin to its 2016 matchup, Jacksonville University will host the Aggies of North Carolina A&T Saturday in the 2017 home opener for Dolphin Basketball. Last year JU defeated NC A&T by 17, 66-49, in one of the best defensive performances of the season.

    Playing in front of a crowd that featured Michael Jordan, Alonzo Mourning, Otto Porter Jr., Jeff Van Gundy, and Dikembe Mutumbo, Jacksonville University matched Georgetown point-for-point in the second half of Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing’s coaching debut. The Dolphins ultimately fell to the Hoyas, 73-57.
  • Short-Handed Dolphins Fight Valiantly At UAB

    Debuting a roster featuring five returnees, two redshirts, and six offseason additions, Jacksonville University fought valiantly Friday in an effort short-handed by injury. With three Dolphins sitting out of the game, JU fell to UAB 96-67 in the Blazers’ Bartow Arena.

    Renewing a rivalry that dates to 1960, the men’s basketball teams of Jacksonville University and the University of Florida will square off in a charity exhibition game on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m., inside JU’s Swisher Gymnasium. The game aims to raise financial and social support for hurricane relief efforts.
