Dolphins Open Fall Slate on the St. Johns
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University men's rowing program heads to the St. Johns River for its first race of the season Saturday. Homecoming Weekend includes the Dolphins' annual Alumni Race at 7:30 a.m. and later the First Coast Head Race.

"This weekend's event provides a great opportunity for our team to put in a lot of meters out on the water," said Head Coach Marci Robles. "Each rower is doubling up, so each athlete will be rowing about 28K or just under 18 miles on Saturday. That's a lot of rowing! This race will be a great tune-up for our main event this fall, the Head of the Hooch."

Jacksonville's last race finished on the highest of notes. At the 2015 MAAC Championship, the team earned its first-ever title after a winner-take-all varsity eight final.

Over the summer, Coach Robles welcomed eight freshman to her roster. All of them will see action in their first collegiate regatta Saturday, joining experienced rowers from last year's championship squad.
