Men's Rowing Sprints to SIRA Semifinals

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville University men's rowing team saw both of its boats advance to the semifinals of the SIRA Regatta on Melton Hill Lake.

Out of 28 boats, the Dolphins placed eighth in the Varsity 8 with a time of 5:28.100, just .7 seconds ahead of Purdue. FIT won the race with a finish of 5:11.300. The full results are here. Jacksonville will race tomorrow at 10:06 a.m. in Bow 2. The Dolphins will sprint against Washington, Temple, Delaware, Stetson, and DePaul. The top two advance to the A Final, the next pair to the B Final, and the last two move to the C Final.

The Second Varsity 8 advanced to the semifinals also with an eighth place finish while it competed against 13 other boats. The Dolphins finished in 5:35.679, while Delaware won in 5:21.206. The full results are here. The Dolphins will race tomorrow in Bow 5 at 8:42 a.m. The top three move to the A Final, and the latter three to the B Final. JU faces Virginia, Georgia Tech, Delaware, Temple, and Marietta College.
