Dolphins Take Back-to-Back Conference Sweeps at Stetson

DeLAND, Fla. – Jacksonville University's softball team captured its second sweep in Atlantic Sun play to move up the conference leaderboard at third place. The Dolphins met Stetson (29-22, 8-9 A-Sun) Sunday, winning the final ballgame of the series, 6-3.

Emily Sanchez drove her first pitch to right center field, recording a double, to score a run in the first inning.

The Hatters tied the game at 1-1 in the second, before two swings of the bat ended that stalemate in the third with Brooke Smith's RBI-single and Kristen Griffith's three-RBI homer to left field.

The home side ended the inning with three runners left on base and no runs, before tacking on one in the next frame.

In the fifth, Sable Lee erased the score with an RBI-single and Victoria Brown took care of the rest. She pitched her second complete game of the series to move to 18-14 on the season.

Jacksonville (27-25, 8-7 A-Sun) will prepare for final exams and five seniors will graduate before the squad resumes play Friday, May 6, in a three-game home series versus Florida Gulf Coast.
