Spring 2018 Brings Training, Bonding for Dolphins

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For Jacksonville University women's soccer Head Coach Brian Copham, the offseason is a good of a time as ever to train your hardest and prepare for opponents' best. The ten-year coaching veteran announced the Dolphins' 2018 spring schedule this week, which features bouts with some of the top programs in the state of Florida.

"We are looking forward to playing our spring schedule, and using it as an opportunity to continue making progress towards next fall," Copham said. "The spring season is an excellent time to see how players are developing, and also see more game minutes than the fall for some as well."

JU's offseason slate will feature four home contests over the next five weeks. The team begins competition by hosting Rollins College on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6:00 p.m. The 'Phins will then welcome Embry-Riddle to the River City for a match on Mar. 1 at 8:00 p.m. NJCAA National Championship Semifinalist Eastern Florida State College comes to town the following week for a game on Mar. 8 at 6:00 p.m. Jacksonville concludes their spring schedule with a bout against NCAA DII heavyweight Flagler College on Mar. 23 at 7:00 p.m. All games will be held at Southern Oak Stadium and are free to the public.

Coming off a 5-11 regular season and a trip to the ASUN Conference semifinal round for the second time in three seasons, the 2018 spring season allows for marginal growth and synergy to take place among the team. The squad recently announced the addition of six fresh faces and an NCAA D1 transfer to the team, as part of National Signing Day.

"We have been very pleased with our off season so far, and hope to continue the progress with the competitions," Copham added. "The girls have been working very hard so far, and we look to continue that progress in the form of matches."
