TAMPA, Fla. – Jacksonville University women's cross country placed three in the top 15 at the USF Invitational Friday afternoon, at USF's golf course The Claw.
"Tough conditions at 5 p.m. in south Florida today. Nothing anyone would call ideal for cross country racing. Given the conditions and the strategy we employed, I think we learned what we needed," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Ron Grigg.
Junior Nora McUmber was the first Dolphin to cross the finish line in a season-best 18:28.9 to place fourth overall. Shortly behind her were redshirt seniors Caitlin Marino (18:53.6) and Michelle Howell (19:11.6) in eighth and 12th overall. Freshman Nicolette Worrell placed 14th, just six seconds off Howell's time in 19:17.1.
The Dolphins return to action Saturday, Oct. 28 at the ASUN Championships, hosted by Kennesaw State.
