Twelve Game Slate Set for 2019

Twelve Game Slate Set for 2019

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University football released its 2019 schedule Thursday, featuring 12 regular season games for the first time since 2008.

Jacksonville opens the season on the road at 2008 National Champions Richmond on Thursday, Aug. 29 and play six home games at D.B. Milne Field.

"This is another challenging schedule that will test us throughout," said Head Coach Ian Shields. "The opportunity to add a 12th game this year for the first time is a great opportunity for us to strap it up an additional time in 2019."

JU welcomes an Ivy League opponent to town for the first time since the 2014 season, when the Dolphins defeated Penn. Dartmouth travels to Jacksonville for a date on Sept. 21. Morehead State is the opponent for the Pioneer Football League home opener on Oct. 12, the first time the Dolphins have faced the Eagles since 2016.

2018 PFL Champion San Diego, Stetson, who finished tied for second, and Davidson also visit D.B. Milne Field, along with an out of league matchup with Ave Maria.

JU travels to Big South member Presbyterian on Sept. 14, following a bye week. League opponents on the road include Dayton, Butler, Drake and Marist.

Stay tuned for season ticket information, which are scheduled to go on sale in March.

Jacksonville is currently in the midst of spring practice, and holds its first scrimmage open to the public on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. at D.B. Milne Field. The annual spring game is set for Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m.
