Jacksonville Drops Regular Season Road Finale at North Alabama

FLORENCE, Ala. – The Jacksonville University men's basketball team (12-18, 5-10 ASUN) fell victim to a hot-shooting North Alabama team (10-20, 7-8 ASUN) on Tuesday night in the regular season road finale, 69-55.

DeAnthony McCallum was the leading scorer for JU in this one with 11 points and David Bell followed with 10 points and seven rebounds. JD Notae contributed nine points and five boards and Jalyn Hinton was strong on the glass off the bench, pulling down eight rebounds.

As a team the Dolphins shot just 36 percent from the floor and saw North Alabama get loose for a 10-34 clip from long range. Those 10 triples created the difference in this one as JU only managed to knock in four of their own from distance. Jacksonville actually shot better than North Alabama overall, holding the Lions to just 35.4 percent.

The Dolphins never led in this one and had a hard time finding their stroke all night long. North Alabama canned seven three balls in the first half to create the difference and carried that heat into the second half but added some tough defense to the mix, never allowing JU to chip away much. Tanner Rubio converted a lay-in to get this one to an 11-point game with 12:42 to go but that was as close and the Dolphins would come in this one.

The regular season finale and senior day will take place on Friday (March 1) at 7 p.m. inside Historic Swisher Gymnasium opposite FGCU. The Dolphins will recognize the career of senior forward Jace Hogan prior to the game.
